June 20, 2020: Opera Gala from the Staatsoper Unter den Linden

On Saturday, June 20, at 1:00p.m. EST, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden will present an Opera Gala on its website, with arias by Verdi, Bellini and Rossini, sung by ensemble members of the State Opera and guests closely associated with the house: among them, as part of the online program, Olga Peretyatko, Elsa Dreisig, Anna Prohaska, Evelin Novak, Ekaterina Siurina, Marina Prudenskaya, Charles Castronovo, Michael Volle, Grigory Shkarupa, and René Pape.

The program includes eleven arias, including selections from Verdi's MACBETH, LA TRAVIATA, SIMON BOCCANEGRA, NABUCCO, OTELLO and FALSTAFF, from Bellini's NORMA and from Rossini's SEMIRAMIDE. The singers will be accompanied by Klaus Sallmann, Bonnie Wagner, and Alevtina Sagitullina on the piano.

The Staatsoper Unter den Linden's online program includes three more concert streams with members of the Staatskapelle Berlin until the end of the season. On June 26, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Octet for Strings in E flat major will be heard on the stream. On June 27, the musicians will perform solo pieces by Elliott Carter at various locations in the opera house, in the directorate building and in the rehearsal center. At the last concert stream on July 3, Schumann's 1st movement from Violin Sonata in A minor, op. 105, Widmann's “Fieberphantasie” for clarinet, string quartet, and piano, and Strauss’ Violin Sonata in E flat major, Op. 18 are on the program. In addition, on June 19, a song recital is on the online program, with compositions by Mahler, Wolf, Schönberg, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, and Dvořák, among others. Sung by Anna Samuil, Natalia Skrycka, Katharina Kammerloher, Stephan Rügamer, Roman Trekel, Jan Martiník, and René Pape.
